KAWASAKI NINJA
Hyosung GT650 opened up the new 600cc sport-bike segment in India. The segment comprising of bikes less than a displacement of 1000cc is widely accepted by us owing to the reason of its slightly better fuel efficiency than the actual sport bikes. Also, these bikes weigh a little less, compared with the conventional liter bikes in our wallet.
Following Hyosung’s launch, the next bike to that is all set to dominate here and give a tough fight to the Hyosung GT650 is the much awaited Kawasaki Ninja 650R. With the Ninja 250R already having proved its racing potential in India, the expectations for this bike is on a high rise.
Now, there are slight waves of news about Ninja 650R to be launched on 8thof June. Though there are no official words about this launch from Bajaj, there are more chances for this to be true as the teaser video if Ninja is already being played in Bajaj India website. Also, remember the interview of Eric Vas, President of Bajaj Auto? In the interview, we had quoted him mentioning that the next bigger Ninja would roll out very soon, once the CKD norms are finalized from the Government’s side.
The news started spreading after a few journalists were offered this bike for test rides in the Chakan plant. This is where the bike would be assembled after being brought to India in CKD form from Thailand. (This is what, is expected for the time being).
This bigger Ninja is expected to be priced slightly over the Hyosung and I feel this is the price worth being paid for Ninja’s brand name itself. Unlike, the Ninja 250R which was priced with a premium tag of over a lakh of Rupees; we expect that will not be the case with the 650R. Since, the newly framed 600cc segment has a competitor at the present, unlike what was the case at the time of Ninja 250R’s launch, expect the Ninja 650R to be priced competitively at a slightly upward of INR 6,00,000*
